Google News Complaint

Why is their poorly named "Sci/Tech" story aggregator filled often to near exclusion with tedious pablum about mature technologies and applied computing retreads like Macs, Microsoft, cell phones and gaming consoles?

If I wanted that sort of thing, I'd read /. every day and be done with it. When I see 'science' on a label, I expect some godsdamn cutting edge stuff like new discoveries in archeology, tests of the bounds of physics, genetic research, ecological investigations and further steps towards my flying car. The BBC website's science section, limited as it is, has always and every time got a better selection of science stories. Even when they've only got two new ones up.

The BBC still has journalists working for it.

I think that many folks in this country have a limited understanding of the differences between science, engineering, and technology. That's probably one reason.

Actually, I think Slashdot has more articles on science than Google News features.
