Project Vote Smart Bus Tour

One of the organizations that I've long been a fan of is Project Vote Smart. Founded by a bipartisan group of people who truly are bipartisan in the best sense of the word because what they are doing is to energize and promote real democracy. The charter of Project Vote Smart is to give voters the tools to make informed decisions on the candidates for whom they are voting. They research the records, actual votes (for incumbents), statements and positions of candidates, who backs them, and where they get their funds, and then provide this information for free to journalists and citizens seeking to understand the people asking for their vote. They maintain a phone bank (888-Vote-Smart) and a web-site (votesmart.org) which makes this information accessible for anyone who wants to find out more about a candidate's positions and how their rhetoric matches reality.

This year, they have extended their outreach via a bus tour through a number of states that will give voters a chance to learn more about their choices. This week, they are holding events in Bakersfield, Lamont and Arvind - located in the central valley of California. The following is an updated schedule for California stops:
