Thought for the Day

I wore the house like a coat today. Except for a run that mostly turned into a walk, because it's been a long time since I ran much.

It used to be that I'd run on the beach, when I visited it. Which wasn't terribly often, but moreso. Sometimes I run across a street I'm crossing, because its still okay to run when you're an adult if it's across the street and you obviously have to hustle since the light is changing or a car is coming. Unless you're wearing softly scruffy exercise clothes.

But it occurred to me that running clothes often have the problem of not having pockets, or of having pockets that no sane person would put their house key in and expect it to still be there when they got back home. I don't have a fanny pack, I intend to resist that temptation for as long as possible. In the end, I safety-pinned my house key to the inside of my sweatshirt. Though someday, if I ever get a chance to design a pair of running shoes, they will have a little, zippered pocket that's just big enough for a key.

Then later, a friend called me up and asked if I wanted to sign up to train for a triathalon with them for moral support. If you know me at all well, that last sentence made you laugh. I may consider it, anyway.

There are good ways to carry keys. Places like Claire's Boutique have phone wire keychains. You wear it like a bracelet. There are also little tubes meant to be waterproof on lavaliers. They tuck into a shirt just fine.
