Roaming The Blogs

Suburban Guerrilla: California's greedy developers and the South's thirsty cities are both facing the same problem ... the US is getting drier even as our population takes up more resources.

Seeing The Forest: Dave wants to know if we have the rule of law or not, and I'm thinking ... not. And it'd be real cool if we had a government by We, The People, but that seems similarly improbable anytime soon.

Agonist: Talking straight about income taxes really gets some people's panties in a bunch. The new Iraqi government about Iraq's heritage sites, which is basically a continuation of US policy since the looting and the first building of an early base on a dig site. With food, as in all other things, you get what you pay for, or in this case, what the government pays for.

Cliff Schecter: Even the Bush administration lost 200,000 jobs and $16 billion in tax revenue as a result. Product safety doesn't hold a candle to corporate lobbyist provided lunches and trips. Marine recruiters are cheating to get new recruits, once again, because it's mysteriously difficult to get people to sign up to go to a war zone.

MahaBlog: Bob Altemeyer explains the authoritarian mindset. Dissecting the healthcare lies of Rudy Giuliani.

Real Climate: The Mediterranean region is getting drier, with effects now visible from the air. We're fast running out of carbon sinks.

Pandagon: In case you hadn't read about it, the story of the ex-gay at the Obama concert. Erm, ah, ahem, uh, it's moist and very, very taboo. Yes, Virginia, Republican politicians are perverts who lie about being perverts, Washington State Republicans, it would seem, doubly so. Conservatives need a bit of moral education, if their wacky beliefs about taxes and charity are anything to go by. Huckabee's Clinton derangement syndrome made him release a rapist to rape again and ultimately kill his victim.
