San Mateo Presidential Straw Poll Coming Up

Have you ever wished you could participate in a straw poll? Or wondered why people in Iowa should get all the fun?

Well, this year, Democrats in San Mateo can get into the action by participating in the San Mateo County Presidential Straw Poll next week. The gathering will be held next Sunday, Oct 21, from 2pm to 5pm in Oak Hall at the San Mateo County Event Center, 2495 S. Delaware St. in San Mateo. Tickets cost $25 a piece, but children under the voting age get in free. Proceeds from this straw poll will benefit the San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee.

One Presidential candidate has already committed to attending this affair: Dennis Kucinich. I know if my good friend in SoCal could make it up to see him, she'd be thrilled.

Other candidates have nominated some very credible representatives:

Former state Sen. Jackie Speier, D-Hillsborough, will represent Hillary Clinton; former state Controller Steve Westly will represent Barack Obama; and Lynn Mosier will represent her father, Mike Gravel.

Other candidates or their representatives are being lined up for the event and local bloggers, including myself and Dave Johnson have been asked to cover the event live. If you are in the area, do come join us in this first ever San Mateo County Presidential Straw Poll.
