"It Makes War Inevitable With Iran"

It is shameful that so many Democratic Senators are unaware and unprepared for the deceitful actions of the warmongers who are dying -- or should we say salivating -- to start a war with Iran. And for all those in Connecticut who voted for Joe Lieberman because they believed he had America's interests at heart, they should be thrilled to know that he is an key piece of the conspiracy to begin an even more strategically flawed war than the one he helped to bring to Iraq.

As Josh Marshall explains today, the Kyl-Lieberman amendment is designed to make war with Iran inevitable. And he concluded that this amendment was purposely architected to get loads of Democratic Senators on record for supporting war without any further discussion because they would be too afraid of being painted as being weak.

Fortunately there is one Senator who is not intimidated by the cads who would use subterfuge to blackmail the Senate into supporting another illegal and immoral war. That Senator is Jim Webb. He's made it quite clear that if the Senators vote for this amendment then they are supporting letting Bush make war on Iran whenever he wants. And there will be no "gosh, I got fooled" excuses for their criminal dereliction of duty again. They are on notice.

I find it obscene that those whom we sent to Washington to curb Bush cannot only not find a way to stop Bush in his rush to wreck havoc in the world, but seem to find themselves so easily ensorcelled to be enabling fools for furthering the destruction of our country, our Constitution and our very souls. Can humanity be saved from the stupidity, culpability and provincialism that seems to be inherent in today's shallow leaders? Not unless we find more and better people to stand up to the rabid warmongers and greedy bastards that afflict our world today.

So many DEMs are already on the "let's demonize Iran" bandwagon that I have trouble believing that they are opposed to anything Bush wants to do with regard to Iran. Sort of like Gephardt backing Bush on Iraq before the WH rolled out their case for war and submitted the IWR to Congress. Difference this time is that GWB doesn't need an authorization from Congress, the existing ones are good enough. And they are not about to go the UN route again.

How come when there is talk about getting out of Iraq it's met with talk about moral obligations to Iraqis coupled with talk about the humanitarian crisis we created...yet when Iran is discussed it is often coupled with bombing and no mention of innocent civilians being killed, our moral obligation to the victims, the humanitarian disaster that may ensue, or the danger we would be putting our troops in who would be sitting ducks for the Iranians to take out.

I don't recall anyone being concerned about innocent Iraqis being killed during Shock and Awe.

PS - Erm, I was concerned about Iraqis before we invaded there. And I seem to remember having a lot of company among liberal bloggers and my offline friends.

Maybe no one with a TV feed gave a damn about them, but that's another matter. Our media culture seems to be of the mind that being concerned for the welfare of the citizens of enemy nations is analogous to endorsing their government.
