January Potpourri

Our friends to the north get to hear some great radio. How to Save the World brings to our attention an interview with Ariel Dorfman about two grandsons at Pinochet's funeral, both who have lost their jobs behind their actions at the funeral.

Perhaps Condi is getting ready for her White House run? Nah. Steve Clemons thinks this is Condi's move in getting a stronger hand. But, Steve reveals that Negroponte doesn't think there's a magic bullet for the Iraq mess.

But when I saw Negroponte recently at the home of the British Ambassador and told him as I departed that I hoped he had some new ideas to help solve our Iraq mess, he responded, "Don't hold your breath."

And for some good news: God denies talking to Pat Roberton.

Bob Geiger continues to deliver the *best* Saturday cartoons around. I was tickled by this one and this one. And found myself almost falling out of my chair laughing over this one. Thanks Bob for making Saturdays fun!

Eric Alterman provides his predictions for 2006. (oops)

Jasmine, the famous Friday Calpundit cat, has died. RIP, little girl.
