The Coming Drought

Climate Scientists in the UK have just finished a study about the effect of global warming on rain patterns in the future. What they have found is sobering. They have found that the drought conditions that the world already has been experiencing are just the harbinger of what's coming.

Today where 25% of the earth is affected by moderate drought conditions, in the year 2100, around 50% of the earth will be affected. And where 8% of the earth is affected by severe drought conditions, in the year 2100, the study shows that up to 30% of the world will be affected. And finally, were only 3% of the earth is affected by extreme drought conditions, in 2100, the climate models show that it could be upto 30% of the earth affected.

The conclusions are frightening especially as this significantly cuts down on our arable land just as the world's population is increasing.

What's really scary is that the amount of drought on earth will go from 36% of the earth to 120%.

Or is severe and extreme a subset of moderate?
