Fenced In

The Senate just slipped through the bill approving a border fence.

When did Mexico become enemy territory? We haven't had a war with them in, oh, ages. Why does this sound to me like a movie about East Germany during the Cold War? Why does the collective direction of all this keep sounding to people like a Germany of another era? When do they put the other fence up north, to keep us in? Is Hu Jintao going to be able to make a name for himself someday by making a speech in Mexico, in front of our fence, saying, 'Mr/s. President, tear down this wall?"

Just asking.

As expected, pretty much everyone on this side of the border is outraged by this. Will it really discourage people from trying to cross into the U.S.?

One commentator pointed out that about the only people gaining from this will be coyotes, who can now command more money for their human-trafficking services.
