A series of coincidences?

Consider these facts:

• The investigation into the airline bombing plot revealed yesterday has been going on since late 2005.

• UK PM Tony Blair and Dubya had a phone conversation about the terror plot this past Sunday.

• The 'war party' in the US took a big hit on Tuesday with the defeat of three-term senator Joe Lieberman in the Democratic party primary in Connecticut &1151; and the GOP immediately responded to Lieberman's defeat with charges that Democrats are soft on terrorism.

• Dubya's poll numbers are at a record low point.

• Numerous polls show that the GOP is in trouble in the November congressional elections.

Given all of that, does it surprise you that — out of all of the weeks that the UK government could have chosen to reveal the plot to blow up transatlantic airliners — Dubya's pal Tony Blair chose this particular week?
