When Will They Censor O'Reilly?

How many times have you heard that the reason real Americans don't like Democrats and liberals is because they hate America? That they accuse Americans of unAmerican activities? Aren't they actively undermining our country when they listen to people like Michael Moore who says the most outrageous things about America? How could they believe such bad things about this exceptional country?

So will this fellow call out Bill O'Reilly like he called out Dick Durbin when he opined that Democrats are unpatriotic?

Dick Durbin (D-IL) said this of our Guantanamo Bay detention center, which is abiding by the Geneva Convention: "If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime--Pol Pot or others--that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners." Like Feingold, Durbin's mouth is his own critic.

Columnist Les Kinsolving says this of Durbin's numerous anti-Bush, anti-war remarks: "Senator Durbin's remarks could very well make him the 'Hanoi Jane' of this conflict." No doubt about it, he's certainly well on his way to that shameful moniker. Durbin has described our operations at Guantanamo Bay as "...akin to something that happened by [sic] the Nazis, Soviets in their Gulags, or some madman regime like Pol Pot." How dare you, Sir?

Or maybe this fellow will speak up about those on the right that hate America? After all he condemned the left for opposing the muscular foreign policy because this shows they are actually haters of America and they believe the worst about America.

In truth, the left would regard military control of foreign policy as an unmitigated disaster. In the view of those like Michael Moore, the only good American soldiers are those who are unemployed or dead. Soldiers are only good if they aren't fighting, since America's wars are always wrong and America's soldiers are war criminals. (An added side benefit: If those soldiers never see combat, they, too, can never be foreign policy hawks -- service in non-active combat roles doesn't count in the leftist view.) Dead American soldiers are good since they can be used as pawns by foreign policy doves: body bag pictures and grieving mothers -- all of it undermines American morale and support for strong foreign policy. Dead soldiers can be cast as "victims," and their corpses cynically used as clubs against America's foreign policy. In holding itself up as the great defender of victimized military members, the left denigrates the courageous choices made by military members every day. Deciding to enter the armed services isn't a choice the left understands, but it is a choice -- an honorable, brave, praiseworthy choice. The leftist claim that soldiers are victims means that they are boobs and ignoramuses, incapable of choosing a lifestyle that risks death in defense of American freedoms.

So will they say that Bill O'Reilly is a traitor or a hero when he falsely accuses World War 2 soldiers of war crimes that the Nazis actually committed?

What is really anti-American -- slandering the dead heros from WW2 or opposing the incompetence of the Bush-Cheney administration? Too bad so many on the right betray what our forefathers fought for (a democratic republic based on the concept of the checks and balances and the rule of law created by humans). And they have the gall to belittle the values our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers (and yes mothers too) were protecting when they fought against the evil Nazi regime and the war crimes that they commited. Today, the "conservatives" excuse the corruption of our government and believe that heroes from other wars must also have committed war crimes because when you are at war anything goes. So what are they smoking to think that they are supporting American values?

Watch the righteous rant from Keith Olbermann (via C&L) where he takes down Bill O'Reilly for slandering the dead.

O'Reilly will be censured when his ratings' decline becomes unsustainable. As long as there are morons and lunatics out there to watch the garbage that he spews daily on Fox, O'Reilly won't be censured.

Why do you think Ann Coulter was spitting her venom on CNN the other day?

Corporate America runs the media. Corporate America worships at the altar of the mighty dollar. Nothing else. Honesty, ethics, morality, decency, integrity... Those are all buzz word that corporate America bandies about.

The corporate media would show kiddie porn, snuff films, rape and bondage, if the law allowed it, because they know they are enough psychos out there who would watch it. As it is, they are serving the next best substitute: the rantings from the radical right-wing cesspool.
