What I Saw on the Internets

Michael White was interviewed on All Things Considered yesterday about the Iraq Coalition Casualty Count website. Sadly, according to the site, today we are 4 deaths short of 2000 US deaths milestone. As Michael said, their number is running ahead of the official reports because the Pentagon has to locate and tell the family before they update their numbers. (via Lunaville)

Orcinus provides a useful perspective on what really happened in Toledo last weekend. Unlike Michael Reagan's smear that blames the black folk in Toledo for their inherent thugishness, David shows that the trouble was caused by the Neo-Nazis that were allowed to parade through a racially-mixed neighborhood that was already experiencing a lot of racial unrest. The stupidity of the city and the police of Toledo reminds me of the demagogues in Northern Ireland who allowed provocative Protestant marches in the Catholic neighborhoods in order to keep stoking the flames of hatred.

emptywheel has another terrific post up today on why The Washington Post's Jim Hoagland might be worried about the pillaring of Judith Miller. EW lays out how Hoagland like his fellow reporter, Miller, was a Chalabi apologist. One thing for sure, the Fitzpatrick investigation is bringing back up all the lies and propaganda that led us into the Iraq War Debacle. And it is exposing the useful idiots that helped the Bush administration sell their war.

For some lighter fare: Fitzmas is breaking out all over the lefty blogosphere. (via Low and Left) And who can resist a good bingo game: Make Your Own Fitzmas Bingo Card? (via Reddhead) And one of my personal favorite carols was posted on a Left Coaster open thread by commentor idiosynchronic:

Have yourself a merry little Fitzmas,
Let your heart be light
From now on,
our troubles will be out of sight (locked away!)
Have yourself a merry little Fitzmas,
Make it Indictment Day!
From now on,
our troubles will be locked away.

Here we are as in olden days, (Tricky Dick!)
happy golden days of Gore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
gather near to us once more.

Through the years they all be in jail together
If the Courts allow
Hang an impeachment upon the highest brow!
And have yourself a merry little Fitzmas now.
