Happy birthday! Happy birthday!

No, it's not Pacific Views' birthday. It's this magpie's birthday!

(No, we won't tell you just how old we are. But one of our housemates just told us that our age today now makes us officially 'older than dirt.')

Although we don't like to talk about personal stuff here, the reason we haven't posted much since early summer is because of the rough time we've had due to the demands of our cruel employer and wretched job. This past week, we finally gave up on the job and turned in our resignation effective at the end of the month. While the end of our misery is now in sight, this magpie can definitely use some cheering up to get us through the next couple of weeks at work. That's why no amount of shame or embarassment can prevent us from trawling for birthday greetings in the comments.

Remember: Happy magpies post more often! (Depending on how you feel about our posts, that's either a promise or a threat.)

And if you happen to know of a nice writing or editing gig that can be done remotely from Portland, Oregon, that info will be gratefully accepted. If we land the gig, we'll name our next cat or first-born child after you (your choice).

Happy birthday, Magpie! Definitely hope we'll be seeing more of you & good luck on the job front. Oh, for the sweet, sweet days when the job fairs were plentiful and the employers deperate.

Bill, we hardly knew you...

Magpie;

have you checked out Boeing or Microsoft or any of the smaller IT outfits for a tech writer post? Boeing is hiring, and anybody that creates software knows that actually explaining it in English is a painful process left to people that can actually speak it with some fluency. ;-)

An alternative is to sell such services as a homespun business of your own.

Happy Birthday, magpie! Glad to hear you have determined to give up on the job that was so mind-boggling bad. Hopefully Portland will have a good writing gig soon for you.

Happy birthday, magpie!

To clarify....most of the companies I mentioned are in Seattle, but many would consider letting you work remotely, given what the job would be.
