United Church of Christ Synod In Favor of Same-Sex Marriage

The UCC general synod has formally voted in favor of allowing same-sex marriage, as noted by UCC guest blogger Chuck Currie.

There will probably be a great explosion of heads on the far right, but I agree with this commentor, who said:

... If you, as a Christian, read the Bible literally, then I suppose you must also accept slavery, since St. Paul advised the runaway slave to return to his master and be obedient. ...

Amen. They've attached part of the resolution at the end of a press release that also describes additional language added in recognition of the fact that the decision won't get the same welcome everywhere.

Finally, let this be an important reminder not only that religion and far right sentiment are far from united, but that many members of the faith community fully embrace tolerance and inclusion. More than that, they consider it central to the message of their faith. And then there are the messages shared across Chrisitianity, Judaism and Islam urging assistance to the poor and an ideal of social justice that's spread equally to all. These things have never stopped being true, much as the Republicans would like everyone to forget.

I believe people with the preference of been lesbian or homosexual, they are looking for the word of God. God love everyone, this is a good oportunity for them to get close to HIM.

Lets be realistic and practice what the Bible said LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
