Headlines You Won't See About Kansas

San Francisco will probably be California's stem cell research headquarters.

Following the voters' approval of a measure that instituted state sponsorship of stem cell research, the central coordinating office seems likely to end up in the Bay City, which is conveniently close to some very fine research institutions. Some states (by which I mean governments) sponsor terrorism, some states sponsor keeping their citizens in ignorance about life and death matters of public health, and some states sponsor wholesale wage slavery. California sponsors cutting edge medical research, which no doubt is why they're ... so hated?

The only regrettable thing is that federal tax money from the economic activity generated by California's research initiative will find its way to places like the Kansas school board that can't decide whether or not to teach the science that made it all possible.

The sad thing about our red state evangelicals is that once they've figured out that the rapture won't happen, they'll realize that they're the ones who were "left behind"

Might take them an awful long time to realize it. After all, these are the same people who routinely condemn middle easterners for their backwardness, while at the same time demonizing the atmosphere of innovation that created their modern lifestyle. If they were in charge, it'd be like the Dark Ages around here, but with cars and cable TV.
