Human Compassion

Via Jeanne, I first heard about Ashley Smith and her encounter with the murderer on the run. This is the story of a woman who found the capacity to see the human being in the person that had taken her hostage. He was so desperate, especially after killing four people. But she found the courage and the compassion to really talk with him, to tell him who she was and to let him tell her about himself. And because of that, she saved her life, as well is his and others who might have crossed his path when he was without hope and digging himself in deeper. The power of compassion and respect can be the lifeline to pull the lost back from the abyss.

As Jeanne says, this is a story that truly is worthy of the coverage it is getting on TV.
