Republicans Protest Recount Results

A right wing talk show host, Kirby Wilbur, rallied protestors to shut down the Washington recount. Using the symbols of the Ukraine protestors, Republicans protested the legitimate recount and tried to use charges of fraud to intimidate the legal processes of validating the vote in Washington. They claimed that it was unfair for King Count to add additional votes they found to the count, even though other counties added similar ballots in their hand recounts.

Using the tactics first used in Florida to shut down the legitimate recount of votes when an election is close, the Republicans have found that using protests and charges of fraud to disrupt legitimate election processes is better than counting every legitimate vote. Who cares who won the most votes? Republicans believe that once you boldly declare you are the winner, even if the election has not be decided, everyone else must bow to their assertion because, of course, the office belongs to the Republicans.

Fortunately, the Washington state Supreme Court recognizes that to have a fair election it is important to make sure legitimate votes are counted. That, for me, is an indication that democracy does still matter. May the candidate with the most votes win.

I would like to believe Mary, but alas we've only shown, tentatively, that democracy matters in Washington state. We still have a long road ahead of us to spread democracy to the rest of the country. Keep up the good work!

"everyone else must bow to their assertion because, of course, the office belongs to the Republicans"

You were referring to which region? Washington state? The monopoly on power is comfortably in Democratic hands, and has been for as long as anyone can remember. If anyone should feel entitled to the office, it should be Gregiore.
