Need some wood?

Umm, no. Not only no, but... eeeewww. Bush doesn't have a timber company, but if he does, he'd like to sell you some wood. The first instinct of a snakeoil salesman.

This was, to me, a truly funny moment. So bad, so poorly done, that it's like watching a George Costanza routine as imitated by someone who doesn't understand why Costanza was funny. Let's just say we're going to be making wood jokes around here for quite a while.

Though, funnier thing, Bush does have part ownership of a timber company. As the previous link notes, MSNBC caught it. CNN's fact check hits a number of other Bush mishaps, but misses the timber company point, the sort of 'easy and fun' thing most the media was all over Gore for in 2000. FOX News' fact check was briefer than CNN's, and did catch the timber company point, reviewing it in surprising detail. The Knight Ridder fact check covered another set of points, but also failed to pick up the timber company exchange.

What an astonishing time for some members of the media to decide to avoid the low hanging fruit.

Yes, but thanks to Dark Dick in the VP debate, people now know to go to factcheck.org and that site lays it out nicely.

I will steer clear of Bush and his wood. Yuck!

Yeah... after checking out the facts of the debate on one of those "internets" I think I'll check out George's timber land using one of those diesel off-road vehicles I just bought. Maybe breath some of that fresh air he created for us. Afterwards, I'll write congress and make sure they won't let anyone on the U.S. supreme court who will overturn the Dred-Scott decision.

Yikes!!! This mendacious bone-head is the president! How in the world did he get elected? Oh yeah... I forgot. He was appointed by the supreme court after the public elected Gore. My bad.

In honor of this latest Bushism, we've set up a site making fun of George Bush for his strange "Need some wood" comment. We've also set up a store at Cafe Press offering items for sale showing Bush with a wooden head. You can visit www.needsomewood.us. We hope you find this amusing. Let's put Bush on the defensive and make this the quote that follows him for the rest of the campaign! Remember to vote in November!
