Bush Copies Kerry

There's the old saw about Bush being the guy to have a beer with, and Kerry being the one whose paper you want to cheat off of. Well, Bush decided to make the second part of it true, at least. From the AP via ABC [emphasis mine].

President Bush on Saturday ridiculed what he called the "Kerry doctrine" as a dangerous outsourcing of America's security, seeking to poke a hole in Sen. John Kerry's debate performance with what advisers see as his rival's biggest miscue. ...

Outsourcing American security. Where have I heard that before? I'm racking my brains, but it might have been as long ago as Thursday:

KERRY: "...Unfortunately, [bin Laden] escaped in the mountains of Tora Bora. We had him surrounded. But we didn‘t use American forces, the best trained in the world, to go kill him. The president relied on Afghan warlords and he outsourced that job too. That‘s wrong."

Two lessons in this. First, the Bush team has run out of original lines. Second, the AP seems to have someone writing political stories who didn't seem to have watched the presidential debate that occurred less than 48 hours ago. You can write the AP at info@ap.org.

How long can a civilization endure when managed almost entirely by people who've reached their Peter principle limit?
