Sprawl Hurts

Not only is suburban sprawl bad for ecosystems, land preservation, air quality, water quality, and wildlife diversity, it's bad for people, too. That is, directly, instead of in the roundabout ways that it's commonly recognized to be choking the life out of the inhabitants of the planet:

...Studies have found that inhabitants of sprawling suburbs are dependent on their cars and so walk less, weigh more and suffer from higher blood pressure than their city cousins. ...

Well, let's hope somebody comes up with a bright solution. No, scratch that. Let's hope somebody listens to a bright solution.
