Feeling The Love

With this room letting loose an amazing torrent of wild cheering, I'm making my final survey of the convention floor.

This is a room full of people who are ready to support the man who just thanked his primary opponents so graciously, but the real sign that he makes the top 3 most beloved speakers of the convention is the Contraband Sign test. Handmade signs were prohibited in the hall, and the security would make it impossible to bring one of the things in pre-made.

Having been here for the other major speeches, Kerry passed the Teresa Heinz Kerry and Howard Dean bar for having sufficiently determined audience support that a floor delegate or so went to the trouble of making a hand-lettered sign inside the convention hall to wave during the speech.

I'm sorry to report that the handmade signs are actually produced and handed out by a team of "signers", who job it is to do nothing but make sure that people have the right signs at the right times, and that includes the hand-lettered ones. a co-worker of mine saw them in action on the floor on thursday.
