Gratuitous Snark

Marlon Manuel writes about bloggers for the Atlanta Journal Constitution, wherein we find this gem:

...The downside of all this liberation is the renegade report, the zeal for the salacious facts be damned. ...

He brings up, who else, Matt Drudge as an example of playing fast & loose with the facts and spreading salacious rumors. I have this to say to that: Fast 'breaking' Lewinsky coverage 24/7 for months. Shrieking about Condit, then giving Scarborough a pass and a primetime punditry gig. Whitewater & the smearing of Hillary. Virtually everything said in 2000 about Al Gore. Every overblown celebrity trial to come down the pike since OJ, each of which has gotten more airtime than any given world conflict or catastrophe not involving Americans. Judith Miller. Shall I go on?

The author complains that bloggers' only fact checkers are their audience. What's the media's excuse?

Bravo Natasha

You said it all, I have nothing to add.

And what about Fox News in its entirety? They just totally make it up as they go. A fact checker would have a coronary working for them!

Fok 'em up, girlfriend.

Yeah I heard you'll be in Beantown'n all. If you make a special archive section it will be easier to read it all--I'm on a trip next week and can't do everything.
