Ending terrorism. For real.

xymphora has an interesting post about how terrorism fits into the neoconservative worldview, and how the current 'war on terror' suits the neocons' purposes just fine, thank you.

At the end of the post, there's a list of suggestions for how terrorism could actually be stopped (as opposed to the neocon-endorsed method currently being pursued by Washington). We thought xmphora's last suggestion was particularly interesting:

Stop living in a culture of manufactured fear. Not only were the Spanish not caving in to terrorism, they were actually exhibiting a considerable amount of courage by refusing to continue to live in the insane world of the neocons. You don't have to be constantly in terror, hoping that your militaristic government will save you from the forces of evil. By voting for governments with adult and responsible attitudes towards the rest of the world, you can actually take steps to break the culture of fear.

Yep.

Scared, angry people shouldn't be running governments.

I don't think _they_ are scared. They just want everyone else to be scared so that they can get away with whatever they want in the name of "protecting" us.

Every time the Bushies start talking "terra terra terra" his numbers go up. So what do you think they will continue to do.

And the echo-media will go right along, because it's a lot more exciting than watching stocks grow or fail to grow.
