Baking back the White House.

Today was the MoveOn PAC's national bake sale to raise money to defeat Dubya in November. According to the AP, the 1100 or so bake sales brought in at least US $250,000. Thousands of people (including this magpie) went away with yummy goodies, and the knowledge that the money they just spent on junk food had a higher purpose.

We stopped in on two sales here in Portland: One had brought in US $750 by the time they were winding down. The other was at US $400 and counting, with several hours left to go.

One of the sales was at the Groundswell Cafe in NE Portland, which some Pacific Views readers might remember. They had another good sign today:

Somebody doesn't like Dubya

In the past two weeks, more readers have called me about the TV book and a Bingo contest in the newspaper than about all the stories combined.
