Paul Waldman of Media Matters for America says progressives need to get over our nuanced selves and embrace the short pitch. People, he said, don't go into the voting booth with a checklist. What should we say, without our safety blanket of ennumerated issues?
He suggests, "Progressives believe we're all in it together."

I don't think it's so much that the votes aren't counted, because it's much more efficient to purge the voter rolls anyway, and after that, even if there's a messages, just simply ignore what the voters said anyway in favor of "Washington elite consensus". Thus we end up with the Democratic Congress once again playing Charlie Brown with Bush holding the FISA football.
