Paul Waldman of Media Matters for America says progressives need to get over our nuanced selves and embrace the short pitch. People, he said, don't go into the voting booth with a checklist. What should we say, without our safety blanket of ennumerated issues?
He suggests, "Progressives believe we're all in it together."

Posted by: mainsailset at August 3, 2007 10:23 AMVoting booth? How quaint. Choosing between a Passive and an Aggressive and buying the myth that the votes are actually counted. That's so Twentieth century!
Posted by: Kevin Hayden at August 4, 2007 01:22 AMWell, I suppose we could storm the Bastille with pitchforks and torches, but look at what happened after that.
I don't think it's so much that the votes aren't counted, because it's much more efficient to purge the voter rolls anyway, and after that, even if there's a messages, just simply ignore what the voters said anyway in favor of "Washington elite consensus". Thus we end up with the Democratic Congress once again playing Charlie Brown with Bush holding the FISA football.
