'I would vote for Saddam Hussein before I would vote for Bush.'

Families of 9/11 victims are not happy about Dubya's campaign ads.

With Republicans holding their political convention in New York in late August, victims said they hope Bush does not make it worse by speaking at the site now known as Ground Zero, which many view as sacred.

"If he does, there will be a protest and it could get ugly," said [Bill] Doyle. [Doyle's son died at the World Trade Center.]

Several family members said their annoyance stemmed in part from Bush's refusal to testify publicly before the federal commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

"The Bush administration will not cooperate fully with the 9/11 commission and at the same time they are trying to invoke and own 9/11 and use it for his re-election," said Stephen Push from the Washington office of "Families September 11th." His wife died on the plane that crashed into the Pentagon that day.

Just watched all three ads. One, "Tested" is in good taste ("America" has endured the recession which began Jan '01, the stock market corrections, 9/11, etc., "America" is turning the corner). But there is no audio script. A Martian would assume "America" was "turning the corner" merely because of the passage of time. No hint is given of what Bush's policies are or what they are supposed to do. Images are mostly irrelevent footage of Americans at their jobs. I noticed the images were "slit view," meaning that they were as wide as the screen but only about half as tall.

"Lead" is 60 seconds and follows an ad style of the mid-90's. The clips last a second each or less--zoom, scroll, pan, switch--and the copy (audio script) involves few complete sentences:

Mr. BUSH: One of the things that must never change is the entrepreneurial spirit of America.

Ms. BUSH: The strength, the focus, the characteristics that these times demand.

This reminds me of the early Infiniti commercials, back when I used to watch television. Is new-age zen-for-dummies the advertizing strategy?

Well, let's just clarify in case anyone is in doubt:

BUSH */// NADER

A vote for Nader is a Bush ticket winner!

Spread the word.
