Terrorists in our schools.
Yep. And luckily for us, US education secretary Rod Paige knows exactly who they are.
The head of the National Education Association the teachers' union that the secretary called a 'terrorist organization' wasn't amused by Paige's remarks, however:
The education secretary's words were "pathetic and they are not a laughing matter," said [NEA president Reg] Weaver, whose union has said it plans to sue the Bush administration over lack of funding for demands included in the "No Child Left Behind" schools law.
This isn't the first time that Paige has let his mouth run away with him. Last April, Secretary Paige told a Baptist organization that he preferred Christian schools over other kinds.

Posted by: truthteller on February 28, 2004 06:02 AMOh, come on. I'm almost with you on the Bush administration, and with many (but not all) elected Republicans, but there are tens of millions of people identified in some respect by that label. Including my grandparents, who are otherwise fairly innocuous.
I know I've been guilty of conflating elected officials with all-inclusive use of the word Republican, but this is just a little over the top, don't you think?
