Dean's Not-Quite-Goodbye
This is the farewell transcript from Blog for America. In it, he encourages all of us to soldier on, support the nominee, stay active, help the organization Dean for America will become elect Democrats to congress, and run for office ourselves if we feel so inclined. But he also talked about the cyclic nature of history, and shared this little gem:
...My favorite, however, is this one. In 1824, John Quincy Adams, the son of a one-term president, John Adams...
(LAUGHTER)
... beat Andrew Jackson of Tennessee in an election where Andrew Jackson received more votes.
It was decided in Congress by one vote, electing John Quincy Adams as president.
In 1828, four years later, John Quincy Adams became the one-term son of a one-term president. ...
Give 'em hope, Howard. I still believe.

Posted by: Partisan J on February 19, 2004 11:10 AMHow you doing there NatashaC?
we are still holding up here in tokyo. Hopeful and defiant!
Now the real work begins. and it is somewhat of a relief that we can work together on really changing america without the battering we were takeing trying to get howard to the whitehouse. I loved his speech yesterday and here in tokyo I had to wait up until 4'30 am to hear it.
Love to you. Chris is in town right now at the
Fairfield Inn, Bellevue Washington. the number is 425 869 6548 room number 310 he is there for an developers conference but I am SURE he would love to talk to you. Don&t be shy... give him a call.
Love to you and keep up the good work on Pacific Views... see you in the blogosphere. I am already making plans to get to the deanfest in burlington just before the boston convention. Can you make it?

Posted by: stacy on February 19, 2004 01:07 PMLauren! It's great to hear from you :) I left a message for Chris, hopefully if he's here over the weekend we'll be able to get together. I wish you were both here, but maybe we can visit Tokyo some time.
I don't know if I'll be able to make it to Burlington, but I definitely plan to try making it to Boston. One way or another.
And yes, this is just the start. I think this guy named Howard once said that "it isn't me they're trying to stop, it's you." Well, they're about to fail. Speaking of which, check up above on the Thursday stroll for a link to Tom DeLay's opponent in the congressional race. The lot of them are going home, and then we can deal with changing the party from the ground up.
love,
