The developing crisis in Iran.

Reformers and conservatives in Iran are playing a high-stakes game of chicken over the upcoming legislative elections. The conservative Guardian Council has barred nearly 2000 candidates (almost all reformists) from running. Over 150 members of parliament have resigned in protest. The reformist-controlled Interior Ministry is refusing to run the elections. University students are threatening street protests.

And nobody is backing down.

You wouldn't know much is happening in Iran if you only read the US press. (And — guiltily — you wouldn't know much if you'd only read Pacific Views recently, either.)

Over at Wampum, however, Eric has been doing an excellent job of keeping track of developments (and the US press coverage) in this continually updated post.
