Same-sex marriages legal in Massachusetts.

We spend a day away from the news, editing a manuscript on androgen receptors and prostate cell cancer cells, and what happens? The Massachusetts Supreme Court hands down their awaited follow-up ruling on same-sex marriages. According to the court, civil unions à la Vermont won't cut it: only full marriage rights for lesbians and gay men meet the requirements of the Massachusetts constitution.

Of course, there's a constitutional convention coming up next week that's expected to approve an amendment defining marriage as a union between one man and one woman. But even if passed, that amendment can't go into effect until sometime in 2006.

Meanwhile, the first same-sex marriages are expected by May. We'll have to see if Western civilization as we know it ends as the result of those two years that lesbians and gay men will be able to tie the knot in the Bay State.

If someone wants to marry their own sister, will this ruling cover this too?

And I got thinking, will there be a day in America where people may be allowed to marry their pets?

I say this because in Sweden, people are allowed to have sex with animals!

The story is here: Swedes have more and more animal sex

I would think that a man or a woman may want to be afforded the benefits of a married couple status, just as human being couples are allowed to, now that you can marry the same sex.

Why not non-humans, if they live together, love together, Does anyone want to prevent them from becoming equal in society through marriage?

(please, I know you probably want to delete my post, because asking questions these days seems to be more and more verboten, but I thought I could come here to find out people for the people really think!)

oh no. your questions aren't going to be deleted.

your homophobic trolling here should tell anyone who reads your comments elsewhere how much thought lies behind your opinions. not that someone who equates lesbian and gay marriages with with incest or bestiality is expressing much of an opinion ...

OK. I give up.

I must not ask questions about homosexuality. I must only ask questions that are on the whole, favourable to homosexuals.

There, I think I am cured....

Hanging,

Homosexuality is not a hobby, like skydiving. It's a permanent state, like race or gender. I believe you've been made aware that we here are supportive of equal rights for people of all races, genders, and sexual orientations. And now you are being made aware that I personally consider your 'questions' to be equivalent to asking whether or not whites and blacks, or brahmins and dalits, should be allowed to have equal rights.

You are also being made aware that bigots such as yourself are extremely unwelcome, and you will henceforth be banned. Take this as an eviction notice. If you get around it, future comments will be deleted with extreme prejudice, no matter their content. This site is not an equal opportunity forum for gay bashers.
