Fox appoints committee to investigate problems at chicken coop.
From this Reuters dispatch:
President Bush said on Monday he would appoint a commission to investigate intelligence failures used to justify the Iraq war, but Democrats questioned whether the body would be independent and said it should be appointed by Congress.
Do we even need to read the rest of the story? Well, maybe just a little bit more:
Senior administration officials said the commission was expected to be given until next year to report back, instead of this year as Democrats demand.
This was seen as an attempt to avoid having the probe's results emerge as a campaign issue for Bush in his re-election drive this year.
Of course, innocent until proven guilty & all that. But it sure does look suspiciously like Dubya's got something to hide, doesn't it?
More: Over at Inter Press Service, Jim Lobe has an excellent piece about how Dubya's trying to delay or derail any investigation into the misuse of intelligence regarding Iraq's supposed WMDs.
