Another of those amazing 'coincidences.'

Given growing calls in the US and UK for independent probes into the pre-war intelligence on Iraq's WMDs — including one from former lead US arms investigator David Kay — why is it no surprise that the US and UK governments are ordering airlines to cancel flights because of alleged terror threats?

Not like Dubya and Blair would be trying to use the 'war on terrorism' to distract public attention from their political problems or anything ...

Excellent site!

As to the "coincidence"...this time it really may be. They (the TSA and co-ordinating overseas agencies) are in the early stages of passenger list scrutinization science and I expect we will see a lot of false positives until they refine their heuristics.

That said, it is certain that emergencies and newsflashes are on occasion orchestrated by the GOP for political ends. How many occasions? Who can say? No one has access to the data so it all become opaque to us. We just have to trust them, don't we?

What a happy situation for us actually. We no longer need be burdened by the pain of thinking or the corrosive action of cynicism. We just trust the Leader to protect us and, yes, announce in late October the capture of OBL!
