Outright, bold-faced lies, chapter 347.

As you probably know, the US has barred firms from France, Germany, Russia, Canada, and several other countries that opposed the US invasion of Iraq from bidding on US $18.6 billion worth of reconstruction projects.

Was this action taken to teach those countries a lesson for opposing Dubya's Iraq policies? Of course not, says Pentagon spokesperson Lawrence Di Rita:

'Nobody had the intent of being punitive when this was developed.'

And if you believe that, this magpie has several bridges we'd like to sell you.
