Don't GOP legislators have anything better to do with their time?
We see that there's a serious proposal in the US House of Representatives to put Ronald Reagan's face on the dime, replacing that of Franklin Roosevelt. So far, 89 Republicans have signed on as sponsors of the proposal. In response, Democrats are circulating a 'sense of the Congress' resolution opposing the change they've gotten 86 sponsors.
Why do Americans need to see Ronnie's smiling face looking back at them from their dimes? We're not sure that even Reagan's supporters know the answer to that one.
Supporters of both [presidents] said each has a special connection to the dime. [Democrat James] McGovern argued Roosevelt belongs on the dime because he inspired the March of Dimes effort to stamp out polio after the U.S. mint put the crippled president on the dime in 1946.
And [Republican Mark] Souder said, "It is particularly fitting to honor the freedom president on this particular piece of coinage" because he was "wounded under the left arm by a bullet that had ricocheted and flattened to the size of a dime."
We couldn't have made up that reason if we'd tried.

Can we name Alzheimer's Disease after Reagan too? And while we're add it, hemorroids so severe they qualify one for exemption from the draft should be known as Limbaugh's Cilia.
