Blogging and Community
Saturday on DKos, Melanie started the open thread with a question about what made a community. In that discussion were some discussion about the ability for every registered member of Kos' site to have their own "diary" which in all ways that matter resemble personal weblogs because when you post on one, other registered Kossets can comment on your post and link to it. So with Kos' switch to Scoop, he's effectively started a giant metablog.
With a number of new blogs coming online, my public service announcement is to point out Dave Pollard's really fine series of posts on blogging. In one post he's provided a list of What the Blogosphere Wants More Of (for both readers and writers) which I highly recommend. Another of the posts covered why some blogs become really popular and he analyzes seven of them to see what works. If you are interested in writing your own blog, this is an excellent resource to use and study. Do stop by his blog and see what else Dave has to offer.
