Grumbling and Griping
I was supposed to go to a dinner this evening where Howard Dean was speaking, and I should be sitting here right this minute blogging my notes from it. It would have been so cool. But instead, a shattered wineglass crashed into my hand on its way towards a lower elevation, and I spent the evening in the emergency room getting six anesthetic shots (that stuff never seems to work on me properly) and about that many stitches in my finger.
Did I *have* to decide to do the dishes before getting dressed? I mean, I could have chosen a less hazardous time-filler with ease. Homework, laundry, some of the lingering unpacking that needs doing... Not that I'm bitter, or anything.
But the point, and there is a point here, is that I don't expect to be blogging much for a bit for the simple reason that it takes too long to type like this right now. This is a time consuming hobby even when I'm not pecking along at 1/4 speed. And I'm definitely not at the level where I get to have minions, but rather where a thing like this diminishes my miniony charms in the eyes of evil overlords with an open position.
(When in doubt, it's more salubrious to make cheesy sci-fi analogies than to weep.)
So anyway, I'll see you all around in a few days. By which time I'll have gone back to sulking over important things like bloody-minded politicians and apathetic electorates.
Posted by natasha at October 5, 2003 02:05 AM | TrackBackAwww! I'm sorry about your hand and sorry you had to miss the fundraiser. I felt really frustrated yesterday, because Dean came to DC and there were two events I wanted to go to but couldn't because I had class. I hope your hand gets better soon!
Posted by: Laura in DC on October 5, 2003 02:50 AMI feel your pain. There have been incidents where I've done almost precisely the same thing. And I had an opportunity to see Dean's announcement speech (I live in VT), but had to bail at the last moment after weeks of eager anticipation.
Heal well...

Posted by: James R MacLean on October 5, 2003 10:24 PMYeah, I noticed that Dean was in Seattle this weekend. I'm sorry you had to miss it and I hope you're fully recovered soon. Take it easy and return to blogging when you're up to it.
Take care :-)

Ouch.

Posted by: Lisa on October 7, 2003 01:08 PMSorry to hear about your accident, Natasha. I trust you'll be back in action very soon!
I had been hoping I'd run into you at the Maggies, though even if you had gone it might have been difficult to cross paths among the 1000 or so good Democrats in attendance.
Are we fated to be Seattle Dean bloggers forever passing in the night?
