What We're Up Against
Several bloggers today commented on their disgust at reading a thread that Atrios pointed to. I avoided reading it, because I thought, you know, what's so astonishing about a bunch of wingnuts cheering the deaths of UN workers? But no, actually the level of viciousness was quite astonishing. Here's the highlights, from several different posters and the Nice Doggie himself, just in case you don't have your hipboots handy:
...Get the clerical people out, tie Kofi and the rest of the senior staff to their desks (I demand Hans Blix be present) and I'll pay for the c-4, throw the switch myself, and happily serve the jail sentence. ...
...As to mourning the dead: I mourn the poor hotel workers being blown to Hell by the Islamokazis, but that's it. ...
...So save the bitterness for the real enemy, Democrats and terrorists and commies. And I realize there is overlap there, ...
...Why don't you go lie under the treads of the nearest Caterpillar and join your soul-mate Rachel "Flat Splat Commie-Mat" Corrie in Purgatory? ...
...Remember the old legend of the scorpion carried across the river on the back of the frog ?! The UN is every terrorists best friend, and acts as a faithful riverboat for scum all around the wrold. Of course, they got stung. Like the scorpion, it is the nature of the terrorist. ...
...The palestinians want to kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill,..........
We need a [...] parking lot where those camps stand A.S.A.P. ......They were already dead, the moment they joined the biggest, most corrupt organization of Tranzi terrorist-[...] that ever existed. Kinda hard to advocate the death of somebody who's already died, isn't it? ...
...Saudia Arabia. I would love to see that whole country MOABED. ...
Also, Atrios has a slideshow for the nice 'anti-idiotarians.'
All conservatives aren't like this, thank heavens. But we've got a clear case of Fox/Clear Channel overdose here, and not a decontamination team in sight.

Do I condone splodeydopes driving cars into civilian institutions and blowing them up?"
"Splodeydopes"?
Let me check my Funk & Wagnalls.
Those aren't conservatives, Mary. They've co-opted the good name of real conservatives. They are nothing more than a mob bent on nothing less than the death of democracy, of decency, and of any claim to civilization.
In the old days, they used to be called by a name that was far more useful, as it also defined their habitat. Back then, we just called them 'assholes'.
