It's Not Christmas...
...but people are hungry, anyway.
Just a brief reminder that in a time of high unemployment, people are applying to foodbanks in greater numbers than usual. Some families who might have been dropping off food last year are coming around to try and pick some up this year. And this is kind of a slow season for donations.
Staples like rice, pasta, boxed meals, canned soups, baking mixes, and powdered milk are greatly appreciated. Dry goods, cereals, and other canned foods are also appropriate. Keep it nutritious, and make sure that donations are both sealed and storebought. Also, remember that many needy families have young children, and diapers are expensive.
If you've been feeling like you can't make a difference in the world, you can fix that with even a small donation to the local food bank. Help someone take care of their family this week, and you'll know that anyone who says you don't count is lying like a rug.
This has been a public service announcement from your local irritatingly earnest person.
