Recall Roundup
Daily Kos: Schwarzenegger appears to be running as a RINO. Also, Insurance Commissioner Garamendi has dropped out, leaving the Democratic field to Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante.
Steve Soto is embarassed to be a Californian right now.
CalPundit, besides bringing us Cliff Notes for Republican advice to liberals and notes on Soros' new philanthropy, points out some of the more entertaining candidate statements.
TalkLeft likes Arnold's positions so far, while still disapproving of the recall. Probably another indication that if Schwarzenegger wants support from a national party, he should have tried the Democrats.
Ruminate This has a general rundown, and posts some distressing quips about the most popular candidate in the pool.
Not Geniuses are possessed of quite a string of posts on the topic, including but not limited to the following: Darrell Issa's sobbing withdrawal. The many skeletons in Arnold's closet, including the bad Nazi memes. And why Kaus is nuts if he thinks Arianna will endorse Arnold.
BBC: Arnold's candidacy and a cool picture of Gray Davis with a gun in each hand down below. Rundown of problems that won't go away just because of a change in governors. The point is made that even Californians find the recall to be a freak show. A profile of some of the things, including public ballot spending initiatives, that have led the world's fifth largest economy close to bankruptcy. After reading that last article, it occurs to me that the graphics people at the BBC are way into that picture of Davis with a gun in each hand.
The Guardian announces the end of the political honeymoon for Arnold.
VOA on Democrats urging voters to reject the recall.
CNN covers registration day, quotes Davis planning to bring the Big Dog into town, and mentions a poll that shows Arnold immediately falling to second place behind a hypothetical Feinstein run.
The Everett Herald runs an AP story on how this election could negatively impact California's economy.
The San Francisco Chronicle finds some nice things to say about the candidate whose name I'm tired of typing.
