Bush's NW Campaign Stops
Bush is on vacation and that means that he will be dropping in on us in the Pacific Northwest this month.
Bush will be in Portland on August 21st, not August 15th like I reported earlier. On Saturday, August 22nd, he will be speaking in Bellevue, WA.
This August he will be 'selling' his Healthy Forest Initiative in a number of different venues, so you can expect to hear the same speech over and over again. The good news is, if we have some strong talking points about the problems with his policies, they can also be reused again at a number of campaign stops.
As I was saying on the Left Coaster, we can use this year's August campaign stops to do some dry runs about what works and what doesn't in providing a counterweight to the Bush campaign in the local media.
Also, if your community is being targeted by Bush, organizing a letter writing campaign with your friends to the local papers, radio and TV stations would be very useful.
If you have a blog, let people in your community know when Bush is showing up and what you expect him to be talking about. Ask them to write letters to the media (we should provide the talking points). If you hear about a protest, let your readers know about the details.
I'll be looking for solid information about the Healthy Forest Initiative and will provide some talking points about this topic that can be used for writing letters to our local media.
Let me know what you think about this anti-Bush policy campaign and what we can do to make the Truth Corps campaign work. What are we missing that will make our response more effective?
And let's use this month to clear some shrub!
